Meat Balls With A Spicy Kick
This is a meatball dish with a spicy kick that has been sautéed to perfection. It can be served with spaghetti and rice.
List of ingredients for this recipe:
- Half inch shrimp paste
- 1 onion (chopped)
- 1-2 chopped red chillies
- 2 garlic cloves (crushed)
- 1 tbsp coriander seeds
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 450g minced beef
- 2 tsp dark soy sauce
- 1 tsp dark brown sugar
- Squeezed juice of 1.5 lemons
- 1 egg (beaten)
- 3 tbsp oil
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste (ground)
- 1 green chillies
- 2 red chillies
Preparation Steps for the meatbalss
01Wrap the shrimp paste in foil and warm for 5 minutes in a frying pan, rotating a few times. Remove the wrapper and place the ingredients in a food processor.
02In a food processor, combine the onion, chilies, and garlic and process until finely minced. Then, set aside.
03In a heated frying pan, dry fry the coriander and cumin seeds for 1 minute. Tip the seeds in a mortar and grind with a pestle.
04Place the meat in a large mixing bowl. Add the onion mixture and stir well. Toss in the black pepper, soy sauce, sugar, lemon, and egg, along with a pinch of salt to taste.
05pMake small, even balls out of the meat mixture. To firm them up, chill them for 5-10 minutes.
06In a wok or pan, heat the oil and fry the meatballs for 4-5 minutes, flipping frequently, until they are cooked through and golden. It will be necessary to conduct this in batches.
07Drain the meatballs on kitchen paper before piling them on a warm serving platter. Garnish with green and red chilies before serving.
