Green Chicken Karahi Recipe
Ingredients for Green Chicken Karahi:
- 4 onions
- 1 cup oil
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 2 pcs black cardamom
- Around 25 pcs black peppercorn
- 2 pcs bay leaves
- 1/2 tbsp salt
- 1/2 tbsp red chili powder or as per taste
- 1/2 tbsp turmeric powder
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tbsp cumin seeds
- 3 chopped tomatoes
- 1 kg chicken
- A handful of fresh mint leaves
- 1/2 bunch of coriander
- 3-4 chopped green chilies
- 2-3 cloves garlic
- 1/2 cup yogurt
Method for Preparation of Green Chicken Karahi:
01Fry the onions in oil till golden brown.
02After it is done, mix in the cinnamon, cardamom, peppercorns and bay leaves.
03Then add in the spices and the ginger-garlic paste and mix till well incorporated.
04Add in the chopped tomatoes and let the masala simmer till the tomatoes have broken down.
05Now, add in the chicken. Put a lid on your pan and cook until the chicken is half-done.
06Grind your greens and garlic in yogurt till it is in a paste-like form.
07When the chicken is half-done, pour in the green paste but leave around 1/4 cup of it behind to add at the end for maintaining the green color. Mix it well.
08Cook the chicken on a medium flame for 15-20 minutes.
09Then pour in the rest of the green paste and cook for another 5 minutes.
10Top with some more coriander and julienned ginger, and serve hot.
