Nihari is a stew from the Indian subcontinent consisting of slow-cooked meat, mainly shank meat of beef or lamb ,goat meat and chicken, along with bone marrow.
Beef Nihari Recipe
Ingredients for Beef Nihari:
- 3 kg beef and some bones (for restaurant-style taste)
- 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 3 tbsp nihari masala
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1/2 tbsp red chili powder
- 2 tbsp cumin seeds
- 1 cup of flour
- Ginger
- 1 tbsp Kashmiri red chili
Method for Preparation of Beef Nihari:
01In a cup of cooking oil, add ginger-garlic paste and let it cook in the oil for a minute.
02After that, add the beef and cook for 5-7 minutes. Add nihari masala and cook for another 10 minutes.
03Add some salt and red chili powder. You can adjust the spice level to your liking.
04Add 2 liters of water, cover the pot with a lid and cook the meat till its well done. You can also cook the meat inside a pressure cooker.
05In a bowl of flour, add some water until its forms a thick mixture. Add the mixture to the nihari along with some cumin seeds and a handful amount of ginger.
06In a pan with some oil, add some kashmiri red chili powder and heat the oil. This is a kind of colored chili oil to achieve the perfect "restaurant-style" taste.
Your nihari is ready! Garnish with some green chilies and ginger. Serve with naan and enjoy!
